For over a year, we’ve been caught up in a global pandemic that has turned our lives upside down. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the way we work, how we shop, and how we interact with our loved ones. Many of us have not been able to be around our families and friends as much as we want to, and we’ve been counting the days until we can return to normal. But now, with the COVID-19 vaccines becoming more widely available, there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel.
In early May, only about 2 percent of Canadians were fully vaccinated, according to the Canadian government. We thought it would be a good time to share some benefits of the COVID vaccine.
Protection From COVID-19
The biggest benefit of the COVID-19 vaccines is they offer effective protection against the COVID-19 virus. While no vaccine is 100% effective at protecting you against any virus, getting vaccinated is the easiest way to reduce your risk of contracting COVID. Most research shows that once you’re fully dosed, you are over 90% less likely to require hospitalization as a result of contracting the virus.
Vaccines are Safe
Each COVID-19 vaccine went through extensive trials before being distributed. Health Canada oversaw the development of these vaccines and rigorously reviewed all data associated with the vaccines before giving approval for distribution.
Resume Your Normal Activities
The sooner you get vaccinated, the sooner you may be able to get back to doing your favorite activities. Maybe you want to be able to go out to your favorite restaurant. Or maybe you just want to know that you won’t be putting your loved ones at risk when you spend time together. Whatever your motivation is, getting vaccinated is the simplest way to get back to doing the things you love and seeing the people you love.
We understand that you may be hesitant or have questions when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine. But the truth is that getting vaccinated is an easy, safe step that you can take to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your fellow Canadians as we work toward resuming our normal lives.
